Reply with quote | #2 | I am a volunteer for the National Coast watch Institution, stationed at Rossall Point (the old coastguard station). We are trying to establish this as a manned station to assist the Coastguard, Lifeboat and the local community by providing a supplement to these services, however, as we have noticed there are groups of youths who gather in the immediate area sabotaging our efforts and also the coastal safety equipment (ie-lifebelts, groynes etc), we had new windows installed, which after only one week were damaged and have to be replaced, as our organization in a charitable one this causes a big drain on the resources available to us, as the money is donated by the public it also affects the community. can anything be done to put a stop to these activities. as you know there was nearly a tragic accident last week, when a visitor to the town was in danger of drowning in the quicksands in that area, If we are successful in being able to man the station as we would like, maybe this type of incident could be prevented. |
